Krillin was the strongest human in BoG, so chances are that Tenshinhan didn't close the gap between them in that short time.

And while escaping from those soldiers he's clearly scared and worried about theur blasts, this is why he didn't notice that tree. Krillin obviously wasn't in danger of dying considering he's stronger than Roshi, and even Roshi was holding his own, if struggling a bit.

I wouldn't be that sure he wasn't in real danger of dying for this two reason:1) After he was saved by Gohan he said "Thanks You saved my life" or " Thanks,that was close", it depends on the various translations 2) Tbh AT has said and written strange things recently. For example, he FnF he apparently thinks Roshi stronger than Yamcha and Chiaotzu and in a recent interview when asked how master Roshi could have achieved all that power, he replies he Always had been that powerful, he just didn't feel to use all that power. So he could have easily defeated King Piccolo,his son,Raditz, maybe even Nappa, but according to AT he didn't "want to use that power". He could have replied that he trained with Krillin, instead pf saying that he ALWAYS has been so powerful, so i'm not surprised if he thinks Krillin can be killed by random soldiers, or Piccolo defeated by a fighter that should be zarbon tier Edited by Total Warrior, Sep 17 2015, 02:57 PM.

If Roshi had been with him, he'd have told him to stay back as well. We're given no reason to assume that he's particularly strong, so he doesn't have to be over, say, 2,000/3,000. Piccolo and Gohan needed Senzu beans after fighting the Freeza soldiers, so that fight can't really be used for anything.
